A LAND OUT OF TIME (2006)
Maroon Creek Productions, Produced by Mark Harvey
This new documentary film calls the emerging gas drilling blitz on Western public lands, "the biggest land grab in American history", far outstripping the gold rushes and silver strikes that rattled the West in the 19th Century. This time it's the oil and gas industry laying claim to tens of millions of public land acres throughout the Rocky Mountain West--upwards of 35 million acres from New Mexico to Montana--including some of the last best wild places: Wyoming's Jack Morrow Hills, Utah's canyon country, Colorado's Roan Plateau and New Mexico's Otero Mesa and Valle Vidal.

POWDER RIVER COUNTRY (2004)
High Plains Films, Produced by Marianne Zugel
From the peaks of Wyoming 's Bighorn Mountains stretching northeast over eleven million acres, the Powder River Basin is a landscape of rolling hills, big skies, and subtle beauty, rich in the history of our American roots. Native Americans lived here for millennia. ĘSome remember Custer making his last stand here. For generations, homesteaders have ranched and farmed these high plains. The rush for a new source of natural gas is transforming the remote region and the future of agriculture is uncertain. "Powder River Country" tells the story of concerned citizens playing catch-up to protect the integrity of the Powder River Basin landscape, bravely challenging an industry on the development fast-track.

RANGE WARS RAGE ON (2006)
Sierra Club Productions, Episode 4 (of 7), Produced by Brave New Films
In the West, the U.S. Bureau of Land Management has allowed increased drilling and condoning practices that kill ranchers' cattle. Now, a coalition of ranchers including Republicans and Bush supporters are fighting back. Episode 4 of Sierra Club Chronicles: "Range Wars Rage On" documents New Mexico ranching couple Tweeti and Linn Blancett's battle with the federal bureaucracy. Sierra Club Chronicles is a television series that explores modern day David vs. Goliath stories. These dramatic efforts of committed individuals working to protect the health of their environment and communities are hosted by Daryl Hannah.
