Really interesting read. Loved this quote the best :) “TO ESCAPE TEMPORARY BLINDNESS BURY YOUR FACE IN YOUR ARMS”

Tevis’s essay epitomizes creative non-fiction. The prose is at once abstract and informative. Tevis’s artful use of vignettes enables the reader to render the essay into a meaningful whole, as is more typical in fiction. It teases you into critical reflection.

What an awesome, beautiful article. I will also note: injected into the imagery was a reference to someone I knew: the man who carried the nuclear core of the Trinity Test bomb, in his lap, in the car to the test site. A great man, a genius of intellect, who spent the rest of his long life fighting nuclear proliferation. It was surreal to find him in the midst of this beautiful, surreal piece of writing

I am one of the lucky students on Dr. Tevis.  She teaches as powerfully as she writes.  I came to this website for inspiration and by God, I found it!  This find just made my night.  Thank you, Dr. Tevis!

Tevis’ piece prefectly blended poetics and fact. I have my own special memories of a childhood trip to Rock City. The haze of memories makes trip live on as an enchantment. She’s inspired new writing in me.
