There has been a vast amount of work over the years to show that more can be grown in northerly, higher altitude climes than potatoes and beef.
But let’s not take on the beef industry. Or, god forbid, those who would shove pesticides and fertilizers down our throats.
Our culture makes an insane amount of money from a few, standardized commodities. Why mess with it? Just keep going!
Im my community, there is SO much lip service paid to environmental issues. Yet when it comes time to actually deal with them, everyone is afraid to mess with the systems that got us into trouble in the first place. No one wants to admit that programs like the one at Parma are actually essential. Much easier to pretend that it isn’t important to worry about, say, food.
Cheers.
