Assembling Faith
A huge turkey came
down the path. Serene,
only slightly more
beautiful than ugly.
It looked as though
it had made itself
out of morning’s spare parts.
I wanted to put something
together like that,
without a mirror.
Long feathers.
Waxy, red dribble—
and yet it glided
almost regally
into the misty woods.
