Former Staffer Now Staffing the Hill

Peter Viola, Orion Grassroots Network intern from 2006-2007, is now a legislative aide to Congresswoman Jackie Speier (D-CA). A climate activist and organizer at Middlebury College, Peter and some classmates (along with their advisor, the one and only Bill McKibben) helped spawn the march across Vermont for climate action, which led to StepItUp and then 350.org, the most important grassroots effort for climate action. Peter is now in a position to help make change from the inside, and certainly must have deja vu when former colleagues come in the door to lobby his boss on emissions targets and the like.
