Orion at the Berkshire Festival of Women Writers

Orion is proud to participate in the Second Annual Berkshire Festival of Women Writers, here in Massachusetts, by co-hosting an event with the food magazine Gastronomica in March and hosting a poetry reading in April.

On March 16, if you’re in the New England area, join Orion poetry editor and associate editor Hannah Fries and Gastronomica’s Darra Goldstein for a savory evening of words, art, and light hors d’oeuvres. Food writer Ruth Reichl, poets Ellen Doré Watson and Patty Crane, and fiction writers Francine Prose and Elizabeth Graver will read their creative responses to a single work of art: a black-and-white photograph by Walker Evans titled “Kitchen Wall, Alabama Farmstead” (1936). The reading, which will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Williams College Museum of Art, in Williamstown, Mass., will be followed by a reception. Fee is $10. Please register in advance by e-mailing hannahfries (at) gmail.com.

Also, on April 1, join Orion poets Jessica Greenbaum, Elizabeth Bradfield, Cecily Parks, and Amy Dryansky for a reading at the Kellogg Music Center, at Bard College at Simon’s Rock. The reading will take place from 3 – 5 p.m., here in Orion’s hometown of Great Barrington, Mass.
