The Swanton Berry Farm in Davenport, California is the first organic farm in America to offer its employees stock in the business. The beneficiaries have included migrant workers who might otherwise never have a chance to build equity through their jobs.

“A major focus of Swanton Berry Farm over the past few years has been to address the issue of farm ownership. We are trying to create a new model of farming that allows aspiring farmers to enter the profession even though they don’t have any capital,” declares the Swanton Berry Farm website.
