Christopher Norment

Christopher Norment is an ecologist and creative nonfiction writer, now retired from a faculty position in the Department of Environmental Science and Ecology at the State University of New York – Brockport. He grew up in California, in what has become Silicone Valley, when there still were plum and apricot orchards and plenty of open space. He began immersing himself in the natural world at an early age, and what started as a love affair with Big Sur and the High Sierra eventually led to a career in field biology and teaching. For him the outdoors remains a sanctuary and place of inspiration, a world that has nurtured his scientific research, creative writing, body, and spirit. He is grateful that over the years he has been fortunate to share this world with his students, his friends, and his family.
