Online Nonfiction/Poetry Hybrid Workshop with CMarie Fuhrman

February 6, 2023 - March 13, 2023

$500

The course: Writing Resilience through Our Relationship with Wildness
We live in a time when most poets and writers feel more and more anxiety, stress, overwhelm, and confusion in their lives. There are too many things on our get-shit-done to-do lists, too much news to follow, so much urgency to publish–and the overwhelming heaviness of a planet in peril. In this class, we will take a journey through reading and writing myths and stories. We will consult Indigenous methodologies and language, theology, witchcraft, and even the tarot as we explore the myriad ways that caring for ourselves is a catalyst for caring for the more than human world and find ways to restore our creative soul while re-storying the planet.

The instructor:  CMarie Fuhrman is an author and poet whose work is rooted in the landscape of the West. She is the author of the collection of poems, Camped Beneath the Dam, and co-editor of two significant anthologies, Cascadia Field Guide: Art, Ecology, and Poetry and Native Voices: Indigenous Poetry, Craft, and Conversations. She has published poetry and nonfiction in multiple journals, including Terrain.org, Emergence MagazinePlatform ReviewNorthwest ReviewYellow Medicine ReviewPoetry Northwest, and several anthologies.  CMarie is a regular columnist for the Inlander, Translations Editor for Broadsided Press, and the Elk River Writers Workshop Director. She is the Associate Director of the Graduate Program in Creative Writing at Western Colorado University where she also directs the Poetry Program and teaches Nature Writing. She is the current Idaho Writer in Residence and resides in the mountains of West Central Idaho.
