Place Where You Live:

Rancho Palos Verdes, California

Palos Verdes

The view from the top of Rancho Palos Verdes is breathtaking, and being down on the beach is just as beautiful. There is a large grass lawn area with tables and an amazing view of the ocean. There are long dirt hiking paths that split and multiply into more paths along the coast line; the last time I was there, the water was so light blue that I felt like I was back on the beaches in Jamaica. There was only a few other people that I encountered on the hike that day. If you want to play golf, the Trump Golf course is there, it’s open to the public and you can even grab a bite to eat. All in all it’s a great place to spend your weekend if only for a few hours.

The northern side is completely cliffside and at the bottom of the cliff there are huge rocks that stretch for miles, the sound of the waves crashing against the rocks is ataractic. Though there is nowhere to lay, I love to walk the path closest to the water and just listen to the sound of the ocean or sit on the benches that are spread along the paths and watch the sun descend from the sky into the ocean

In the spring there’s a sea of yellow flowers along with many other beautiful, colorful plants and flowers. When I’m there, the sea breeze, the warm sun rays kissing my skin and the field of flowers makes me feel like I’m at the end scene of “The Lovely Bones” when Susie Salmon finally reaches “the in-between” and is on her way to heaven. What a marvelous place to get away from all of the hectic city life.
